Douglas Schools now require masks wearing starting Monday

BOX ELDER, S.D.(News Center 1) — The Douglas School District announced Wednesday evening that a masking protocol will be implemented.

The Douglas School Board made the decision on August 23, 2021 that a masking protocol would be put in place if the number of active cases reaches 1.5 percent of the combined population of staff and students.

As of September 8, 2021, active cases in the Douglas School District have reached the 1.5 percent threshold, implementing the masking protocol. The district is encouraging all staff and students to wear masks beginning Thursday, September 9.

Mask wearing will be mandatory on Monday, September 13, 2021 for all staff, students, and visitors.

The district is also asking everyone to provide their own masks and they thank everyone for their flexibility as they continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 within the district.
