PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota House State Affairs Committee will hear a bill today that would expand the information available on the security costs for Governor Kristi Noem.
Department of Public Safety Secretary Craig Price says the security is set by his department.
Noem has traveled across the country in the past year, making campaign stops for former President Trump and other republican candidates. Price says giving details of security expenses could weaken that protection.
Price says he will try to explain how their security operates.
Price says the costs of the Governor’s security is contained in the annual budget.
District 5 State Senator Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown says releasing some information, like costs, is reasonable, but not specific details of how, when and where security is provided.
