WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- Roberts County Sheriff’s Department reported a traffic stop that resulted in DUI arrests that were twice and three times the legal limit of consumption and had a one-year-old in the vehicle on the front passenger’s lap with no car seats.
On Monday night around 10:30 pm, deputies observed multiple traffic violations and pulled the vehicle over. Along with the child not being legally and safely secured in the vehicle, there was marijuana in plain sight. Deputies gave sobriety tests; Tyrone Bearhead, the driver, was two times the legal limit, and Jocelyn Bagola was three times the legal limit.
The child was physically unharmed and turned over to Tribal Child Protective Services.
Tyrone Bearhead was charged with: DUI 2nd (Alcohol and drugs), contributing to the neglect-abuse-or delinquency of a child, open container in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, operator to ensure a child under 5yo is properly secured, overdriving road conditions, driving without a driver’s license, failure to dim high beams.
Jocelyn Bagola was charged with: Contributing to the neglect-abuse-or delinquency of a child, open container in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of contraband in jail, and underage consumption.
Roberts County Sheriff stated, “Situations like this are completely unacceptable, and our Deputies are working DILIGENTLY to ensure our citizens and visitors are safe in Roberts County. We are conducting extra patrols, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated in our county. Drive sober or get pulled over.”
