Driver exam stations to be closed statewide this weekend

PIERRE, S.D. (Press Release) – All South Dakota state driver exam stations will be closed this Friday and Saturday (May 3-4) for annual employee training.

State Driver Licensing Director Jane Schrank says the reason is so all driver exam employees can attend the yearly training. The Sioux Falls exam station, which is the only statewide station open on Saturdays, also will be closed this Saturday.

“Unless it is a holiday or inclement weather, we rarely close the driver exam stations,” she says. “This training provides our employees an opportunity to train together and discuss ways they can provide an even higher quality of service to the residents of South Dakota”.

Schrank reminds people that they have 180 days prior to the expiration date of their license to renew. For information about online renewal or what documents are needed for a license renewal and a list of exam stations, click on to: https://dps.sd.gov/driver-licensing.

The Driver Licensing program is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
