Drought conditions update in South Dakota

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT)–Drought conditions across South Dakota continue to decline as the calendar is ready to turn to August.

The latest weekly information from the South Dakota Drought Monitor shows 67.5 percent of the state’s land is completely drought-free.

Less than one-percent of the state is in what’s considered “severe drought.” That’s in an area near the Lyman-Brule-Buffalo County lines.

South Dakota has seen more rain over the past week, in addition to severe storms in the northeast and southeast portions of the state.
