DSS talks about the goal of Mental Health Awareness Month

PIERRE, S.D.(KMIT)- Governor Kristi Noem has proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month in South Dakota.  Department of Social Services Secretary Laurie Gill talks about the goal of the campaign.

She says the stigma around mental health issues has changed.

Gill says there are resources available to help.

Again, the website is dss.sd.gov.  Anyone with a mental health crisis can dial 211, which is the mental health equivalent of dialing 911, and trained staff can assist.
