DSU President address cybersecurity

MADISON, S.D.(KELO)- Your personal information is at risk, and the risk is growing every day.

But Dakota State University is working on finding a solution.

DSU President Jose Marie Griffiths says it involves the next level of technology…quantum computing.

The school’s leap into quantum computing depends on a six-million dollar funding package that’s part of Governor Noem’s proposed budget.

Quantum computing is the next big thing in technology.

Like all new technology…it can be used for good or bad.

Dakota State University is developing a new quantum computing program.

DSU President Jose Marie Griffiths.

Dakota State is in line for six-million dollars to fund the program…if the legislature approves.

Griffiths says the list of risks is endless.

DSU is developing a new program on Quantum Computing to get out ahead of those bad actors.

Artificial Intelligence is already being used for scams, and invading data bases for valuable private information.

New technology like Quantum Computing is making it possible.

Griffiths says the school is developing a program that will involved several state universities in developing cyber security with Quantum Computing.

Griffiths says USD, SDSU, the School of Mines and DSU will work together in a virtual learning center on using Quantum Computing to develop cyber security techniques to protect private data.
