Education-related bills starting to surface for upcoming session

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – In advance of the 2021 session of the South Dakota legislature, all three members of the District 18 delegation spoke to the Yankton School Board.

Representative Mike Stevens says he just starting to hear of education related bills.

Stevens says marijuana issues will be part of the discussions.

Stevens says the budget proposal from Governor Kristi Noem is only the start.

Noem proposed a 2.4 percent increase in state aid for schools in the next budget year along with $11 million in one time money.
