PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is proposing changing standards for civics and government classes in K – 12 schools to have more of an emphasis on the history of South Dakota and the United States.
Incoming Education Secretary Tiffany Sanderson was before the House Education Committee last week and talked about standards revisions.
Sanderson says they plan a wide approach to the new standards.
Sanderson says the public will have a chance to comment on the proposed changes.
The Governor has included $900,000 in her budget to fund the proposed changes.
