PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Brown County reported its fourth COVID-related death while Walworth County had its first among totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. There were eight new deaths total raising the state’s current amount to 210. Other deaths included two in Minnehaha County, and one each in Buttes, Hughes, Pennington and Union.
The state also saw single day record totals for new cases, active cases and hospitalizations for the second straight day. South Dakota had 463 new cases along with 272 recoveries, raising the amount of active infections to 3,291 (there were 2,615 one week ago). The state also has 194 people currently hospitalized in association with the virus. In all, the state has had 20,097 confirmed cases and 16,596 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County reported 35 new cases and 19 more recoveries, leaving the county with 160 active infections. In all, the county has had 1,102 confirmed cases and 938 recoveries.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 6,453 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 2,142, and Lincoln County with 1,264. Other counties totals include Codington with 780, Beadle with 738, Brookings with 719, and Clay with 548.
