PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Many electric utility companies are making a strong push to produce all their power carbon free in the near future.
South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says the state’s utilities are already ahead of the curve.
Nelson says the state is still dependent on carbon producing plants for much of the needed power.
Nelson says they continue to work with utilities as they move to carbon free production.
Northwestern Energy has announced a goal of being carbon free by 2035.
