SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- The number of Electric Vehicles is on the rise.
Chris Studer of East River Electric says it will grow…but he doesn’t expect that to be a problem.
Neighboring Minnesota has over 35-thousand.
There are only about two-thousand electric vehicles registered in South Dakota…but that number will grow.
As it does, electric demand will increase.
Studer says it will become important to send the right message to EV owners.
Having enough quick-charging stations will become important as the number of EV’s grows.
At the same time, they’re working to head off fuel shortages of the future…electrical shortages.
Studer says in order to keep EVs moving on long trips it will be necessary to build more quick charge stations along major routes.
Having enough charging stations will be critical to support the tourism industry in the future.
