The Mass of Christian Burial for Ellie Heintzman, 93, of Aberdeen, SD, will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeffrey Schulte celebrant. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Ellie died Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Wednesday, June 3, followed by a Wake at 7:00pm, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
Elenora ‘Ellie’ Brosy was born October 19, 1932, to Otto and Christina (Eisenbeisz) Brosy in Wishek, ND. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school. The family moved into Wishek, where Ellie attended city school. In 1943, her family moved to Fredonia, ND. They owned a gaming establishment and operated the Brosy Café and Tavern.
On April 7, 1951, Ellie married Larry Heintzman at St. Mary’s Rectory while he was on a three day pass, then going with her husband to Denver, CO, where he was stationed in the US Army. They returned to Aberdeen after his honorable discharge. Ellie worked many jobs in Aberdeen. They owned the Gold Nugget in Bowdle from 1980 to 1988.
Ellie loved bowling and enjoyed going to tournaments. She was also admired as the youngest North Dakota Pool Shark. Some of her favorite pastimes where doing word puzzles and playing cards, scrabble, and bingo. She was also an avid reader and talented at embroidery. Dancing was her high light event. Ellie truly enjoyed the special outings of camping, fishing and boating with her family. She very much enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.
Grateful for having shared Ellie’s life are her children: Rick (Sue) Heintzman, Barb Schipke, Roger (Madonna) Heintzman, Mark (Katrina) Heintzman, Steve (Emily) Heintzman, and Jason (Marion) Heintzman; son-in-law Tony Rohrich, twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister: Deloris Kuntz, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Larry; her parents, Otto & Christine Brosy; brother at birth; daughter, Carol Rohrich; sister, Connie Bader; mother-in-law, Caroline Hopfinger; son-in-law, Dale Schipke; two aunts, Clara Ketterling and Martha Heyne, and two infant nieces.
