MITCHELL, S.D. (WNAX) – American Wind Week is observed each August to remind people of the progress being made in renewable energy.

Neal Gyngard is President of the company “Tower Climbing Grease Monkeys” and is now a spokesman for the industry.

Gyngard says he wants people to know that wind power is a fast growing industry in South Dakota.

Mitchell Technical College offers courses in working on wind turbines. Gyngard says graduates of that program will get jobs.

South Dakota wind projects now generate about 1,700 megawatts of electricity with another 1,300 under construction.
