PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A proposed wind farm on the Hughes/Hyde County border has an agreement in place to sell the power it would produce. ENGIE North America has reached a power purchase agreement with Basin Electric Power Cooperative. In a press release from Basin, the North Bend project is expected to go online in late 2023. The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has not given final approval to a permit for the North Bend project yet, but P-U-C Staff Attorney Amanda Reiss says the companies are not exactly putting the cart in front of the horse.
A two-day hearing was schedule this week and the only intervenors to the project have indicated as of last week they are withdrawing their opposition. Reiss says the parties have filed documents this week to keep the approval process moving.
Reiss says the P-U-C could consider the settlement agreement at it’s next meeting.
The agreement is for 25 years and for 200 megawatts.
