PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Passenger numbers continue to increase at Pierre Regional Airport. Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga presented the April 2021 enplanements to the Pierre City Commission Tuesday night.
April’s 964 enplanements are up 180 passengers from March and up 923 from April 2020, which was the worst month for air travel from Pierre during the pandemic in 2020. So far in 2021, 2784 passengers have flown out of Pierre, which makes a monthly average of 696. Pierre has seen enplanements increase, per month by approximately 124 passengers. SkyWest will continue service to Pierre until July 1st. The Utah-based carrier has appealed the US-DOT’s selection of Denver Air Connection as the next airline to serve Pierre under a two-year Essential Air Service contract.
