PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Enplanement numbers at Pierre Regional Airport continue to grow month to month. July numbers were released Tuesday night during the Pierre City Commission meeting.
Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga says he appreciates the people of central South Dakota putting trust in not only Pierre Regional Airport, but Essential Air Service carrier Denver Air Connection.
Pierre’s 1,687 number for July beat July enplanements at Watertown Regional Airport. Watertown recorded 1,631 or 56 fewer passengers than Pierre. Watertown’s July enplanements saw 980 to Denver and 651 to Chicago. For the year, Pierre sits at 9,160 enplanements. Watertown through July has 9,489. While overall enplanements are up, last July was better than this July at Pierre Regional. July of 2021 saw 1,924 enplanements or 237 more than this year. Pierre is averaging 1,308 enplanements per month. Watertown’s average enplanements are at 1,355.
