PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Passenger boardings at Pierre Regional Airport have eclipsed 10-thousand passengers for the year and there is still time to add to that total. Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga says crossing the 10-thousand passenger plateau is important to the city and the airport.
Month to month, enplanements are down from July by 525 when 1687 passengers flew to Denver International Airport from the Capital City. Until August, enplanements had been on the rise, monthly since January. By comparison, Watertown Regional Airport recorded 1284 enplanements in August. That’s 115 more than Pierre. For the year, Pierre is at 10-thousand 329 enplanements. Watertown enplanements for 2022 are at 10-thousand 773 or 444 more passengers than Pierre. Denver Air Connection services both Pierre and Watertown and their two year Essential Air Service contract expires in May of 2023.
