PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The final numbers have been collected on air service from Pierre Regional Airport in 2021. Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga says enplanements surpassed 17-thousand 500 passengers last year.
December was also the first month SkyWest only had one daily flight from Pierre as the regional carrier started a reduction of service to eventually end service to Pierre having lost the Essential Air Service contract to Denver Air Connection. Huizenga says the yearly enplanements flew past an important milestone.
Huizenga says Denver Air Connection has proven to be an airline the city can trust.
The top month for enplanements at Pierre Regional was 2,474 in November followed by 2,374 in October, December’s 1972 and 1,924 in August. SkyWest, for the year, carried 13-thousand 13 passengers and Denver Air flew 45-hundred-one passengers from Pierre Regional Airport.
