BROOKINGS, S.D. (KJJQ) – Enrollment numbers for the six state universities in South Dakota are likely going to be released tomorrow by the South Dakota Board of Regents.
We know enrollment numbers are down, and likely will be down significantly.
South Dakota State University President Barry Dunn talked about the current situation.
International student numbers have dropped the last couple of years and that has hurt.
Dunn says there is an even bigger reason for declining enrollment. The number of low-income students attending SDSU has seen a major drop.
And that decline is felt at all of the universities. It’s 2,500 students across the regental system.
The Board of Regents will once again be pushing a needs-based scholarship, called Dakota Promise, during next year’s legislative session.
