Ethanol and renewable fuels benefit climate change

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – The Senate Ag Committee held a hearing this week focused on climate change. American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings (of Sioux Falls) shared a white paper with the panel on ethanol and renewable fuels benefiting climate change. He says Congress has an opportunity to give farmers an incentive to continue what they’re doing in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

He says renewable fuels are already doing a better job in reducing greenhouse gas emissions than is regular gasoline.

Jennings says the Senate Ag Committee should aid farmers who sequester carbon on their operations.

Senate Ag Committee Chairman Pat Roberts says there’s no silver bullet to battling climate change but it’s important farmers continue voluntary conservation practices and utilize no till farming to improve their environmental footprint.
