Executive Board met Thursday in Pierre

PIERRE, S.D.(KJJQ)- The Executive Board of the South Dakota Legislature officially sets the scope of this year’s summer study committees.

One will look at county funding and the other deals with sustainable models for long-term care.

House Majority Leader Will Mortenson of Pierre:

The Board removed the word “mandated” from the county study at the suggestion of Representative Randy Gross of rural Elkton.

Since some county commissioners were in the audience, the board allowed public testimony. Minnehaha County Commissioner and President of the South Dakota Association of County Commissioners, Dean Karsky, says
“mandated” should not have been removed.

Senator Lee Schoenbeck announced the legislators for the upcoming summer study groups.

The board also approved the members of both committees.
