BROOKINGS COUNTY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Authorities are warning about buckling roads in the extreme heat affecting much of the Dakota News Now viewing area.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office shared photos on Friday of a buckled section of the southbound lanes on Interstate 29 south of Brookings.
On Thursday, South Dakota Highway Patrol had posted about a similar incident about a mile away.
Repairs are underway, but authorities asked that drivers remember to wear a seatbelt, reduce distractions and prioritize traveling safely.
