ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department will be sponsoring a special Family Fun Weekend on Saturday thru Sunday, June 10 – 11 at Wylie Park. This special weekend features fun activities for the whole family.
Saturday, June 10
10:00 a.m. Family Fitness Day Fun Run/Walk
Come and celebrate the magic of Storybook Land with a Storybook Land Fun Run on Saturday, June 10. This is a two-mile Fun Run encouraging both avid runners as well as families to participate, with a special event planned for children. Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Storybook Land character. Prizes will be given out for best dressed and most original costume.
Registration starts at 9:30 am and the race begins at 10:00 am. This is a FREE event! Drawings for door prizes to participants will follow the race.

1:00-1:30 p.m. Register for Kid’s Fishing Contest Near Pavilion – FREE!
1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Kids Fishing Contest – Preschool – 6th grade
The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department and Aberdeen Firefighter Local 446 in conjunction with its Family Fun Weekend are holding a Kids’ Fishing Contest on Saturday, June 10, at Wylie Park Lake. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. south of the Pavilion and fishing will be from 1:30-3:00 p.m.
Age categories will be grades Pre-school-2 and grades 3-6. Awards will be given in each category for the largest fish and the most fish caught.
This event is free of charge and each person is responsible to furnish their own bait and tackle.
