ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The Annual Family Fun Weekend is set for Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9 at Wylie Park/Storybook Land. The event is hosted by the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.
There are a variety of free activities throughout the two days. Gene Morsching, Recreation Superintendent, talked about the event.
While some of the activities are geared toward young children, there is something for everybody, according to Morsching.
Saturday’s time schedule is as follows: The Family Fitness Day Fun Run/Walk is at 10 a.m. South of the Pavilion, the Princess Party is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Storybook Land Castle, the Kids Fishing Contest is from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Wylie Park, the Sand Castle/Sculpture Building Contest is from 4 to 5 p.m., and then on Sunday the Raiders of the Lost Park is at 1:30 p.m. at the Storybook Land Castle, and the Free Watermelon Feed is at 1:30 p.m. at Storybook Land.
Morsching said the weekend has become very popular.
The weekend caps off with discounts of 50 percent off paddleboats, Fun Yakes and canoe rentals from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
