PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The South Dakota Farm Bureau is tracking two major bills effecting agriculture in the 2020 State Legislature. Farm Bureau Lobbyist Mike Held says one they’re backing is Senate Bill 170 that just passed the Senate. He says it’s a capital outlay bill supported by a coalition of agricultural groups, education, businesses, the Chamber of Commerce and the Governor.
Held also says Farm Bureau is supporting SB 157, the Ag Development Bill which passed the Senate 24 to 11 and comes up in the House State Affairs Committee on Monday.
Held says the Capital Outlay and Ag Development Bills are the two major agriculture issues this session. He adds that it’s been a successful session so far for farmers and ranchers.
Held thinks the SB 170 on capital outlay will prevail over what the House comes up with because of its broad support.
