Farmers & ranchers reflect on their time at the National Farmers Union Convention

SCOTTSDALE, A.Z.(HubCityRadio)-  The 122nd annual National Farmers Union was held from Sunday through Tuesday down in Scottsdale, AZ.  Several farmers & ranchers from South Dakota traveled down to Scottdale to partake in the convention.

19-year-old rancher Chaz Blotsky of Mission talks about his experience at the convention.

Blotsky discuss the issue of landowner’s property rights.

Blotsky commented on Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack’s speech that was delivered that morning.

Lance Perrion of Ipswich talks about his experience at the convention.

Perrion attended the workshop dealing with biofuels.

Perrion express how optimistic he is that the next Farm Bill will be done by the elections.

Chad Johnson, farmer from Groton, comment on an upcoming bill Congress is working on to ensure that beef being produced are coming directly from the U.S.

Johnson talks about improvements that being worked on that would improve competition for smaller meatpackers.

Johnson attended seminar dealing with the issue of biofuels.

Johnson also attended a seminar dealing with property rights.  Lawyer representing landowners opposed to the CO2 pipeline, Brian Jordre was the main speaker addressing that topic.

The convention wrapped up on Tuesday.
