CONDE, S.D. (WNAX) – 40 South Dakota Farmers Union members are making hill visits this week in Washington at the National Farmers Union Fly In. President Doug Sombke says they’re focusing primarily on low commodity prices and the trade war and bringing individual farmers concerns to lawmakers.
He says they’ll also bring up the need for reinstatement of mandatory country of origin labeling, access to affordable health care and solutions for low commodity prices.
Sombke says his group wants to see country of origin labeling included in the USMCA trade agreement.
Sombke says its critical for producers to get those one on one meetings with Congress in order to help them see the problems facing agriculture today.
