BROOKINGS, S.D. (WNAX) – The Federal Communications Commission has formed a task force to review the technology needs of precision agriculture.
Michael Adelaine, Vice President for Technology and Security at South Dakota State University has been named to the task force. He says precision ag needs to be connected to the net to be successful.
Adelaine says that big data will translate down to the field level.
Adelaine says the expansion of 5G cell service is critical for precision ag.
The task force holds its first meeting next Monday in Washington, with some recommendations possible by early spring.
