FEMA going to partner with state to push flood insurance

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – With rivers running high and wet ground, there is concern about flood potential next spring.

Phil Wernisch with the Federal Emergency Management Agency says they are going to partner with the State of South Dakota to push flood insurance.

Wernisch says many people misunderstand how flood insurance works.

Wernisch says they will be working with local governments and agencies.

At least 58 counties in South Dakota have had some type of weather related disaster declaration this year.
