YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Federal Emergency Management Agency is updating flood maps across the region and that could have an impact on flood insurance rates for property owners.
Yankton City Manager Amy Leon says they gave some updated information to FEMA late last year.
Leon says they did some aerial mapping of the areas that could see the most significant changes.
Leon says the city information may limit the flood insurance increases.
Parts of the city near Marne Creek and rural areas near the James River could be the most affected.
