PIERRE, S.D. (KELOLAND) — The final day of South Dakota’s 2024 legislative session will be pushed back to Tuesday because of a winter storm, according to a top lawmaker.
Republican Sen. Lee Schoenbeck made the announcement Friday morning. The weather forecast calls for as much as four to eight inches of snow in western parts of South Dakota and six to 12 inches of snow in central and eastern South Dakota counties starting Saturday and continuing through the weekend.
The final day had previously been scheduled for Monday. The House of Representatives and the Senate will now gavel in at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, according to Schoenbeck.
