PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Pierre firefighters got an early wake-up call Saturday morning as they responded to a house fire. Pierre Fire Chief Ian Paul says firefighters were dispatched around 2:45 a.m. to the 400 block of Dakota Avenue.
Firefighters were able to save the nearby residence.
Paul says the cause remains under investigation.
The home was a rental unit that just been left by the tenant.
Fire crews were on scene around three and a half hours with assistance from the Fort Pierre Fire Department, AMR Ambulance and local law enforcement.
