ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – On May 13, 2024 at approximately 7:18pm, Aberdeen Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 100 block of West Melgaard Road for a reported structure fire. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a three-story apartment building with moderate to heavy smoke conditions on the third floor. Fire crews found a small fire in a vacant third floor apartment unit. The fire was quickly extinguished. Fire crews vented smoke from the building and inspected for additional hot spots. There is significant smoke and heat damage to this unit. The exact cause of fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and all tenants were allowed to return to their apartments
