PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- A 13 year old male student is in custody, but a situation at Georgia Morse Middle School in Pierre was quickly resolved about mid-morning Tuesday.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says the student had brought “a couple of firearms” to school, but no known threats were made.
Pierre School District Superintendent Dr. Kelly Glodt says another student reported the presence of the firearms to a staff member. He says school policy was followed and the situation was peacefully resolved “within minutes.”
Glodt says the student that reported the firearm being at school did exactly what they should have done.
As a reminder, Glodt says students are not allowed to bring firearms onto school property.
The name of the student involved was not released. Again, the incident is still under investigation.
