Five injured in Watertown crash

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KXLG) – The Watertown Police Department continues its investigation into a single-vehicle accident that seriously injured four juveniles and the adult driver.  Police Sergeant Matt Hegg says they received the call at 5:37 pm Tuesday night that a 2011 Ford Escape was traveling at a high rate of speed on 14th Avenue North, crossed the centerline and left the roadway. 

The vehicle collided with a large tree at the intersection of 14th Avenue and 3rd Street NW, causing it to fall over into the roadway.  Hegg says the four juvenile passengers and the adult male driver, identified as Cameron Hogle, 31, sustained serious “significant” injuries. 

Hegg says according to witnesses the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.  Charges are pending against Hogle. The Watertown Police Department was assisted on-scene by the Watertown Fire Rescue.
