Five Straight Wins For Wings; Another Weekend Sweep

ABERDEEN, SD (AberdeenWings.com) – The Aberdeen Wings won their 5th straight game, sweeping the weekend vs. Austin

Matys Brassard started the scoring Friday with a goal midway through the 1st period, Bynum and I. Brassard assisted.  But Aberdeen would take over after that.  Isak Holmstrom would score late in the first to tie the game at 1 all heading into intermission.  Lindstrom and Sharun assisted.  Three 2nd period goals from Simon Pollock, Weston Turner and Nick Comfort would put the game out of reach.  Gravink, Sharun (2) Mackie, Wisener, and Lindstrom would get credited with the assists.  Austin Salani would get the Bruins to within 2 at the 9:30 mark of the 3rd but Kie Vahakangas would close things out with an empty net goal assisted by Mackie and Bulgakov to give the Wings a 5-2 Friday Win.  Adam Dybal was great in net stopping 38 of 40.

Aberdeen would get on the board first Saturday when Grant Winkler found the back of the net for his first goal as a Wing.  Wall and Bulgakov assisted, giving the Wings a 1-0 lead after 1.  Austin would tie the game with a Giuseppe Fiorillo goal early in the 2nd.  It was Isak Holmstrom again with the Wings response just over 2 minutes later with assists to Anderson and Collora.  Logan Gravnik from Sharun and Pollock would extend the Wings lead with a goal at the 12:22 mark of the period to give the Wings a 3-1 lead heading into the final 20 minutes.  Grant Kohnen would give the Wings a cushion early in the 3rd with a goal from Wisener and Koupal.  Austin would make it interesting again down the stretch with an Ocean Wallace goal but Dybal would shut the door on any comeback thoughts to give the Wings the 4-2 Saturday win and weekend sweep of the Bruins.  Dybal saved 35 of 37 on the night.

The Wings have a much deserved break for the Holidays but return to the Odde to host the St. Cloud Norsemen Friday & Saturday December 29th & 30th.  For tickets visit Tickets.AberdeenWings.com
