SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – Heavy rain this week is pushing rivers in eastern South Dakota to even higher flood stages.
Mike Gillispie with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says the James River will rise rapidly.
Gillispie says the river near Scotland was below flood stage….briefly.
The river at Scotland is predicted to jump over five feet by Tuesday.
Gillispie says the Big Sioux River will also go back to major flood stage.
The Vermillion River in Clay County is also projected to rise about 18 feet by Wednesday. Much of southeast South Dakota got two to seven inches of rain over the past few days.
