Flu cases still rising in South Dakota

PIERRE, S.D. (KWAT) — Influenza cases are still rising in South Dakota.

State Epidemiologist Dr. Joshua Clayton talked about the numbers.

Since those numbers were released, it’s been learned that a fourth grade boy in southeastern South Dakota has become the first child in the state to die of flu-related complications this winter.

As for the coronavirus, Dr. Clayton says it’s all quiet in South Dakota.

And that puts South Dakota in a small group nationally.

In the U.S., there have been 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with one death death.

Globally, the virus has caused more than 2,100 deaths.
