Food shortage numbers increase during pandemic

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – The side effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have caused some families to run short of food.

Christina Oey, Development Director for Feeding South Dakota, says the problem is worse in rural areas.

Oey says they saw demand rise last year.

Oey says they are working with their suppliers and their clients to make the most effective use of their food.

Feeding South Dakota now has facilities and warehouses in Sioux Falls, Pierre and Rapid City.
