Former PC Volleyball Star Named Assistant DSU Coach

MADISON, SD (dsuathletics.com) – Fifteenth-year head coach Amy Veenhof is excited to announce the hiring of Laura Babcock as her assistant volleyball coach at Dakota State University.  She began her duties in late May.

Babcock, an Aberdeen, S.D. native, played at North Star Athletic Association’s (NSAA) fellow Presentation (S.D.) for five seasons.  She was a five-year starter as a defensive specialist, breaking numerous school records.  She is the all-time digs leader with 2,435 digs.  In addition, she holds the career records in career serve/receive percentage, serve receive attempts, and most sets and matches played.

Babcock received the NSAA Volleyball First Team All-Conference and AVCA/NAIA All-Region award in 2020.  She was also named to the conference’s Second Team All-Conference twice in 2021 and 2022.

Besides her athletic accomplishments at Presentation, Babcock was the North Star Athletic Association Scholar Athlete from 2018-22 and a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete from 2019-20 for her academic success.

Babcock coached at Matchbox Recreation, a volleyball club in Aberdeen, during her career at Presentation.  After her graduation at PC, she became the assistant club director at Matchbox and coached for five years.
