FORT PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Fort Pierre City Council was updated Monday night on progress with the Western Dakota Rural Water System. Executive Director Dr. Cheryl Chapman says a feasibility study about bringing Missouri River water to western South Dakota is the systems first big goal.
Chapman says 12-point-seven million of the 13-million for the study has been raised.
Chapman says they are trying to tie Western Dakota into the federal Bureau of Reclamation.
Chapman says South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds has helped Western Dakota in the push to get connected to the Bureau of Reclamation. The City of Fort Pierre is a member of the Western Dakota Rural Water System.
