FORT PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Fort Pierre City Council has said no to the idea of having a third party business come in and deal with code enforcement issues in the city. Mayor Gloria Hanson says code enforcement is an area where the city has had a hard time getting traction.
Joel Johnson owns Code Enforcement Specialist of Burke. He says his services are used by many similar sized cities in the state.
Some Council Members like Rick Cronin shared concerns about the cost of the service.
Council member Callie Iverson moved approval of Code Enforcement Specialists, but that motion failed for lack of a second by another Council member.
