FORT PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Twice in the span of around 30 to 40 days the City of Fort Pierre has had to issue water restrictions due to problems with the Mni Wiconi Rural Water System trunk line that runs under the city. Mayor Gloria Hanson says she brought the concerns recently to South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson.
Public Works Director Rick Hahn says the request has been approved by the Bureau of Reclamation.
He says the trunk line has simply worn out.
The Mni Wiconi Rural Water System serves Fort Pierre and nine other communities within four rural water systems in central South Dakota.
