FORT PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Fort Pierre City Council was updated Monday night on progress moving forward with updating the city’s water system. Public Works Director Rick Hahn says both the Water Task Force and city Utilities Committee have recently met to discuss the latest planning.
A narrative needs to be in to the state Department of Ag and Natural Resources for placement on the state water plan.
Hahn says they hope to come up with a plan to last well into the future.
Council member Todd Bernhard noted during the meeting the passage of Senate Bill 62 Monday 69 to zero. That bill heads to Governor Kristi Noem and would provide 600-million dollars for water infrastructure projects that the City of Fort Pierre may be able to take advantage to assist in funding water system upgrades.
