VIVIAN, S.D.(KCCR)- A Hughes County resident was one of many who thought they could make it. He’s been stuck at the Coffee Cup Truck Stop near Vivian for two days. The man, who agree to talk but asked not to be identified says he was part of a convoy that attempted to leave Fort Pierre on U-S Highway 83 on Tuesday.
He says all the vehicles did finally get to Exit 212 on I-90 which has been closed since Tuesday.
He estimates around 50 semis have been marrooned at the truck stop and adds law enforcement may be getting frustrated with people not paying attention to many of the no travel advisories posted across the state,
The Lyman County Sheriff’s Office says the notion of arresting those who drive in the storm is a rumor and no arrest have been made. The man believes it could be a few days after the interstate does open to get all of the semis freed from the drifted snow around them.
