Foundations helping to meet needs during pandemic

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Needs increased because of the pandemic last year and the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation and the South Dakota Community Foundation were there to help meet those needs.

Heath Johnson, Chair of the AACF, talked about some of the local programs that received money.

Pat Gallagher with the SDCF said those grants were matched through state funds.

Johnson said that the Knight Foundation provided funding. He said some of those funds went to help with projects such as improving wi-fi at the Aberdeen Family Y and Boys & Girls Club of Aberdeen Area so students could do homework there.

Gallagher said it was a record-breaking year for the South Dakota Community Foundation.
