PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The Government Operations and Audit Committee of the South Dakota legislature heard from the Game, Fish and Parks Department about efforts to control the spread of zebra mussels in state waterways.
Fisheries supervisor Jake Davis says they have identified the infested lakes and rivers.
Davis says they have had response plans since 2015.
Secretary Kevin Robling says the department is taking the threat seriously.
Committee Chair, Representative Randy Gross of Elkton said they weren’t happy that their questions were not answered.
The committee wants more specific information at a future meeting.
