Glacial Lakes Energy CEO reflect on this year’s legislative session

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The 2024 South Dakota Legislature dealt with a series of bills in relation to the CO2 pipelines that could be put in place in the state of South Dakota.

Glacial Lake Energy CEO Jim Seurer(Sire) took a look back at what they did this session.

Seurer gave an overall view on what they did accomplish.

This week is National Ag Week.  Seurer discuss how agriculture has an impact on the ethanol industry.

Seurer talks about the stance that other entities(i.e utitlities & water) had that impacted some of these bills

Seurer addressed SB201 which dealt with local control.  One of the provisions in the bill is the $1 per linear feet Summit Carbon Solutions would have to pay for the pipelines.  Seurer talks how this impact his industry.

Seurer also addressed the Landowner’s Bill of Rights that was included in the package.

One thing not included in the bill of rights is the issue of eminent domain.  Seurer addressed the business’s stance on this issue.

Seurer also addressed the role counties can play with regards to ordinances dealing with setbacks for the pipelines.

South Dakota Property Rights and Local Control Alliance(SDPRLCA) announced on last Friday that they will work on a referendum to override SB201.  Seurer discussed what he believes this referendum will include.

SDPRLCA will be holding a rally at 9am Monday at the Capitol Rotunda in Pierre.
