GOAC gets update on Community College for Sioux Falls

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The operations of the Community College for Sioux Falls were examined by the Government Operations and Audit Committee of the South Dakota Legislature last week.

The community college is run by the University of South Dakota and President Sheila Gestring says they are watching the bottom line.

The report to the committee shows the college with a loss of over $400,000 in the current fiscal year.

Gestring says they are seeing students take more online classes.

Gestring says they are also facing some difficult price competition.

The community college, formerly the university center, is designed for non-traditional students and high school graduates who hadn’t planned on going into higher education.
